Services

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and surprisingly relaxing therapy. The needles are small and shouldn’t hurt, other than a quick poke upon insertion. Many people report tingling, buzzing, or mild aching sensations. Most people experience a general sense of relaxation.

tuina massage

Tuina massage (“twee-na” ) is rhythmic with smooth, controlled movements. It’s especially beneficial for muscular tension, stress, and pain. It can be combined with acupuncture or used as a primary treatment.

Herbal medicine

Chinese herbs range from food grade spices like cinnamon and ginger to more intense medicinals with strong effects. Single herbs are most often combined into elegant, well-balanced formulas that have been passed down and refined for centuries.

Herbs are available raw (to be cooked), powdered (to be mixed with hot water), or as herbal pills or tinctures.

I am a board-certified herbalist and I supervise and teach in OCOM's large Chinese herbal medicinary. The herbs that I use are carefully sourced for quality and safety.

Diagnosis & Evaluation

These treatments depend on a good diagnosis in Chinese medical terms. In order to determine the direction of treatment, I may ask questions, feel your pulse, look at your tongue, and feel different points on your body. I may also recommend lifestyle changes or seeking care from other kinds of providers when appropriate.

Tai Chi & Qigong

Alert, relaxed movement can do wonders for your health. It reduces stress, increases awareness, and refines your control of your body. Tai Chi and Qigong are traditional exercises that emphasize relaxation and smooth, coordinated motion.

Testimonials

I highly recommend Eliot for your acupuncture needs. My husband started seeing him after two herniated discs in his neck. Eliot's expertise, practice, knowledge, and calm atmosphere provided the pain management he needed to deal with a painful health issue without the use of medication. My husband went from a skeptic of acupuncture to a full advocate of its medicinal purposes. He also went from being unable to move his head and dress himself to being fully rotational and able to hike. Eliot was kind, professional, and affordable. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for acupuncture services.

About Eliot

Dr. Eliot Sitt is the owner of Milwaukie Acupuncture, which he founded in 2015. He is highly trained in treating pain and other conditions with acupuncture, massage, and Chinese herbs. He is passionate about introducing people to the ideas of Chinese medicine and helping them to heal and feel better.

Eliot completed his master’s degree in 2014 and his doctoral degree in 2021, both from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where he is also a part-time faculty member.

Eliot also graduated from Reed College in 2007 with a degree in philosophy. He also now teaches Tai Chi to students there. This is fitting, because it was his introduction to Tai Chi as a PE class at Reed that first got him interested in Chinese medicine!

Eliot grew up in Roseburg, Oregon and has lived in the Portland area since 2003.

Eliot is also the proud father of his first child, Arlo, who was born in January of 2022.
